So the summer days are starting to become busy days, they are filling up nicely with summer workshops though I’m wondering where I am going to get some time to do some printing and painting! I am looking forward to all my summer adventures with Elmwood School, Bridgwater; Artslink, Sherborne and Guggleton Arts in Dorset!

OK, so in my spare time (ha!) I volunteer for a local theatre company called Street Theatre whom I manages props for. We have recently completed a enormously successful production of Calendar Girls and in the process raised £1500 for Leukaemia! Well done on your performances fantastic ladies and gents!

Aster open ‘Twice as Nice’ store – Shepton Mallet

At the opening of the new Aster ‘Twice as Nice store in Shepton Mallet on 2nd March 2012 I was asked to Upcycle a table for the raffle prize. The morning was well attended and the sales were high! Thanks to all the people who attended and supported the store, especially Martin Roberts from ‘Homes Under the Hammer’!

Sculpture Workshop – Gryphon School

At the beginning of February I went to the Gryphon School in Sherborne to Work with some Year seven and eight pupils on a sculpture challenge. Here’s some pictures from the mornings challenge in which the young people were asked to create a creature at least 1 metre tall or 1m wide, has eyes and a magical power…..

Orchestra in a Field Workshop

New plates poured and a new print press

The new bronze plates have been poured in Bronze and have been ‘cleaned’ up.

The new, larger wax plates have been coated in ceramic. When they have enough layers we will burn them out to get rid of the wax. The ceramic moulds will then be ready to take the molten metal.

Nearly ready to be fired

The plates look a little elaborate with all their runner systems added but this is to ensure the gases have enough room to escape and that there is enough pressure created for the metal to fill the plate fully. Once cast the ceramic will be removed with a hammer and the runner systems cut off.
